The Art of Breathing
According to yoga, all functions in the body are caused by breathing, and one’s state of health is directly affected by the quality of the breath. But breathing is more than just an organic process, it is also connected to the functioning of the mind: the way you breathe affects the way you think and feel and vice versa – the way you think also affects the breathing.
Conscious modification of breathing is THE central theme in yoga practice: it can be used for cultivating optimum physical health, as a therapeutic tool for calming and transforming the mind, or as a means to enter into meditation, which is achieved through slowing down, reducing and eventually stopping all thinking.
